We Supported the “Favourite Teacher” Awards in South-West Bulgaria

As part of our contribution to education and culture in the Blagoevgrad region, we supported the 11th edition of the “Favourite Teacher” competition, held among schools in South-West Bulgaria to mark The Day of the National Awakeners.

The event is organised by Struma newspaper. The competition began on 23 October 2023 and continued for nearly a month. South-West Bulgaria’s favourite teacher was selected through a combined assessment based on online voting on a dedicated platform, an essay on the topic “Do We Study for Grades or for Knowledge? Results from the 2023 National External Assessments and School-Leaving Examinations”, and a presentation of each nominated teacher.

The assessment was carried out by a five-member expert committee comprising a representative of South-West University, an expert from the Regional Department of Education, the Chief Education and Culture Specialist at Blagoevgrad Municipality, a representative of a parents’ association and a veteran teacher.

At a ceremony held on 23 November 2023, awards were presented for “Favourite Teacher”, together with two runner-up distinctions, “School of the Year 2023”, awards for “Teachers by Vocation” and a number of special commendations.
